Sohn Ae-Ree

Abstract
This study furthers the current understanding of stress, alcohol use disorders and depression among Seoul citizens. This study is to identify the research model of stress, alcohol use disorders and depression for developing mental health programs.
The study subjects using cluster-stratified sampling method were 1234 adults over 19 years old from Seoul City. A cross-sectional study with face-to-face interview was used to collect data. A questionnaire measuring socio-demographic variables, depression of Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), psychosocial wellbeing index-short form (PWI-SF), and AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) was utilized. The study hypotheses were tested using SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) analysis with AMOS 7.0 software.
The significant variables that affect on the AUDIT score were sex (¥â=-.48, p£¼.001), age (¥â=-.18, p£¼.001), stress (¥â=.11, p£¼.001), and marital status (¥â=.07, p£¼.05). The structural equation model from that stress and demographic variables (sex, age, and marital status) influenced on level of AUDIT¡¡and AUDIT influenced on depression.
The findings suggest that the future intervention for prevention of alcohol problems should be included stress management and depression.
